2024 Is All About Karma
Movie picks, numerology & marketing skills
Hello! 2024 is right around the corner bby! According to numerology, it is the year of…KARMA. 2+0+2+4= 8. The number 8 is all about abundance, success, karmic lessons, and stepping into your power.
2023 (7) was about looking inward, and 2024 (8) is about getting back what you put in (for better or worse). But one thing most people forget about Karma is that it is not just getting back what you put out, it is cyclical.
According to Buddhism (fun fact: I went to a Buddhist school), beings are bound to the ever-turning wheel of rebirth. Only when a person stops believing in the existence of a permanent and real self can he or she become free from karma. This is a complicated topic but essentially, in Buddhism, we are reborn based on our attachments to the world and realm we are currently in. You can read more on Karma here.
Whatever you believe, there is no denying that the amount of effort you put in a goal has some sort of outcome. Maybe not as we pictured, but definitely how it is intended to be.
Movies To Watch, Books To Read
Leave The World Behind- This Higher Ground Production film (produced by the Obamas) stars Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha'la, and Kevin Bacon. It is a dystopian end-of-the-world film that explores the complexity of race, class, and how our society functions ( or highlights how it does not function). I have to admit, it raised my cortisol levels significantly. The sad truth is that we as a society need to think about our role in this planet and how our actions affect our future. It’s a “make you think” film. You can watch this on Netflix.
This is also a book by Rumaan Alam and you can watch this
Self-care
Someone asked me if I have hobbies and I honestly couldn’t answer that. My entire personality feels like work lately.
When I am not hustling and working, I enjoy just being in peace. Sitting by a sunny window, sipping on coffee and just being.
Which made me think, it is okay if we don’t have hobbies and extracurricular activities. Or if we only have one.
If this is your season of hustling, that is okay and I hope you find moments of peace for yourself. Don’t feel bad that you aren’t going on the latest vacation, going out with your friends every weekend, taking that pottery class or trying a new workout class. Don’t feel like you aren’t living your life to the fullest. A lot of the time social media “decides” what a fulfilled life looks like, but we get to decide what a fulfilled life is.
For a lot of us, our economy and our society have failed us. It is not okay that many of us are working 2 full-time jobs to barely pay our student loans and bills, but it doesn’t mean it is forever and it doesn’t mean we have to lose hope.
For me, 2023 taught me to conserve my energy for survival and that is okay.
That being said we love free stuff. So if you are looking to get out and have new experiences here are a few things to do for free fun:

Free education is my favorite. If you want to add a new skill to your resume, or maybe you have a small business and want to learn some marketing skills, check out HubSpot Academy.
I often hear people say they don’t apply for jobs because they don’t think they have the qualifications. I think people should flip that mindset. You might not have the qualifications on paper, but are you qualified? If you believe you are then APPLY. Trust that you can learn anything.
